Branding

In and out of school, one of the best ways to show the intersection of communication and graphic design, has been branding work. In the class Graphic Design for Strategic Communication, I was tasked with creating a brand and developing their visual identity. I was able to use my knowledge from previous work with Exposed DC and American University's SIS Career Office to  understand the necessary elements of a brand guide.

Blue Jay Art Studio

My time at Red Panda Art Studio inspired the name and direction of this branding assignment.

This project required me to create a business, logo, and a poster. My initial sketches played with the bird and art supplies, before I chose to include the paintbrush under its wing.

I chose a font named Bubbles, a round typeface that fits the fun nature of an art studio. Having the bird graphic interacting with the text helps to create a cohesive poster with clear hierarchy.

This brand is child-like and engaging and I had fun building it. Reach out to see more behind-the-scenes work like sketches and initial logos!

Office of Career Development

I first worked with the SIS Career Office as their headshot photographer, working closely with them to promote and conduct these LinkedIn focused events. After the success of these photoshoots, I was asked to help the office create a cohesive visual identity.

This process began with solidifying a color scheme, font, and visual elements. I chose to keep using the SIS building as a consistent element from their original social media presence. In Canva I built Instagram post, flyer, and email banner templates for the office to use and adjust as necessary.

Exposed DC

A popular promotional material for Exposed DC has been printed postcards. These graphics are easily transferable to Instagram posts to feature photographer's work and give more information. Check out the cover page I designed for Exposed DC's exhibition program in the magazine tab!
